Can ChatGPT find your products?

A free check of about a minute for Shopify and WooCommerce stores. We test AI crawler access, product data and schema, then ask an AI assistant three real buyer questions and show you who it recommends.

No email needed to see your score. Add your email to unlock the full report.

What the checker tests

Six checks, one report.

Each check looks at something an AI assistant needs before it can recommend a product: access to your pages, data it can read, and signals it can trust.

AI crawler access

We check your robots.txt rules for each AI crawler, for your homepage, a collection and a product page. We check noindex tags and headers, and test whether your firewall treats OAI-SearchBot differently from other visitors. Blocking a search crawler on product pages caps your score, because nothing else matters if AI can’t get in.

Catalog quality

On Shopify we read your public product feed, on WooCommerce the Store API (Shopify: up to 1,000 products · WooCommerce: up to 500). We measure thin descriptions, short or duplicate titles, missing categories and brands, unclear variant names, too few images and stock. You get your five weakest products by name.

Product schema

We sample product pages and parse every JSON-LD block: price, currency, availability, brand, SKU, GTIN or MPN, reviews, shipping and return details. We flag duplicate schema from a theme and an app, and schema prices that don’t match the page.

Trust and policies

Shipping, returns, contact and about pages, linked where shoppers and crawlers can find them. Organization data with your social profiles, and reviews on product pages. Assistants are slower to recommend a store they can’t verify.

Discoverability

A sitemap that lists your products, correct canonical tags, and a homepage that says what you sell and to whom in one plain sentence. We also check for llms.txt. Not a proven ranking factor. We give it a small weight because it’s quick to add.

Live AI test

From your homepage and catalog we write three questions a real shopper would ask, without your brand name, and ask an AI model with web search. You see who it recommended, which sources it cited and whether you came up. It’s a snapshot: answers vary between runs.

The AI crawlers that matter

Which bots to allow on your store.

Not all AI bots do the same job. Some fetch pages for live answers, some collect training data. Blocking the first kind removes you from AI answers; blocking the second is a business decision.

CrawlerCompanyWhat it doesOur advice
OAI-SearchBot OpenAI Finds pages for ChatGPT search results. Allow. If it’s blocked, your pages aren’t shown in ChatGPT search answers.
ChatGPT-User OpenAI Visits a page when a ChatGPT user asks about it. Allow. OpenAI notes robots.txt may not apply, since a person triggered the visit.
GPTBot OpenAI Collects content that may be used to train OpenAI’s models. Your choice. Blocking it doesn’t remove you from ChatGPT search.
Bingbot Microsoft Crawls for Bing search, which Microsoft Copilot is built on. Allow. Blocking it also removes you from regular Bing search.
Claude-SearchBot Anthropic Indexes pages to improve Claude’s search results. Allow.
Claude-User Anthropic Fetches a page when a Claude user’s question needs it. Allow.
ClaudeBot Anthropic Collects content for training Anthropic’s models. Your choice.
PerplexityBot Perplexity Indexes pages for Perplexity’s answers. Allow.
Perplexity-User Perplexity Fetches a page when a Perplexity user asks. Allow.
Google-Extended Google Controls whether Google can use your content for Gemini models. It doesn’t affect Google Search. Your choice.
Applebot-Extended Apple Controls whether Apple can use your content to train its AI models. Your choice.

“Your choice”: blocking training bots keeps your content out of future model training but doesn’t remove you from AI search answers.

Shopify vs WooCommerce

How products get into ChatGPT.

ChatGPT can find any store that’s open to its crawlers. Showing your products as shoppable cards inside ChatGPT is a separate step, and it works differently on each platform.

Shopify: Agentic Storefronts

Since March 2026, Shopify can make your catalog available in ChatGPT and other AI assistants, including Microsoft Copilot and Google’s AI Mode, through Agentic Storefronts. Shoppers see your products in the chat and finish the purchase on your own Shopify checkout.

  1. In your admin, check Settings → Apps and sales channels for Agentic Storefronts. Whether it’s on by default varies, so confirm it yourself.
  2. The assistant reads your product data: titles, descriptions, categories, variants and images. That’s what our catalog check measures.
  3. Keep robots.txt open to OAI-SearchBot, so your pages also appear as regular ChatGPT search results.

WooCommerce: merchant program and product feed

WooCommerce has no built-in ChatGPT channel (as of October 2026). OpenAI accepts merchants through chatgpt.com/merchants, where you apply and submit a product feed in OpenAI’s format. Purchases are completed on your own checkout.

  1. Apply at chatgpt.com/merchants.
  2. Generate the feed with a feed plugin, for example Product Feed PRO by AdTribes, and include GTIN or MPN, price, availability and your policy links.
  3. Keep the feed in sync with your stock, and keep robots.txt open to OAI-SearchBot.

Either way, a feed is only as good as the product data behind it: a clean feed built from thin descriptions is still thin. These programs are new and change often; we update this page when they do. Need a hand with either one? See our Shopify development and e-commerce development services.

What a good score looks like

How to read your score.

How it’s weighted
Five areas: catalog quality 30%, product schema 30%, trust and policies 15%, discoverability 15% and AI crawler access 10%. The live AI test is shown separately and isn’t part of the score.
80–100: AI-ready
AI crawlers can reach your products, your product data and schema are clean, and trust pages are in place. The open question is whether AI actually recommends you, and that’s what the live test shows.
50–79: Partially visible
AI can find the store, but thin descriptions, missing schema fields or weak trust signals make it hard to recommend you over a competitor with cleaner data.
0–49: AI can’t really see you
Something basic is in the way: blocked crawlers, missing product schema or a catalog AI can’t read. Fixing the top three items usually moves the score the most.
Caps
If robots.txt blocks OAI-SearchBot or Bingbot on product pages, the score can’t go above 39. If OAI-SearchBot may be blocked at your firewall, it can’t go above 79.
Partial scans
If your store blocks automated checks, we score only what we could measure, and show no overall score when that’s less than half of the checks.
FAQ

Questions about the checker.

Yes. The score, the top three fixes and the live AI test are free, with no email needed. Your email unlocks the full report: every finding with step-by-step fixes, your weakest products and the sources AI cited. You can run three new checks a day.

Yes. WooCommerce and Shopify are both fully supported, with fix steps for each platform. For other platforms we run the crawler, schema, trust and discoverability checks, but not the catalog check.

Usually because AI can read more about them: richer product descriptions, clean schema with price and availability, reviews, and mentions on sites the AI trusts. The live test shows which stores and sources came up for your buyers’ questions, which tells you where to start.

No. llms.txt is optional. Not a proven ranking factor. We give it a small weight because it’s quick to add, and we’d fix crawler access, product data and schema first.

We store the public data we read from your store and the report itself, so your private report link keeps working and results can be reused for 7 days. If you unlock the report, we keep your email to send it and one reminder after 30 days. We don’t sell or share it.

After any change to your theme, apps, robots.txt or product data, and otherwise about once a month. AI answers change from week to week, so the live test is worth repeating.

Yes, run it on any client store. If you’d like us to handle the fixes for your clients under your brand, see our white-label service.

Some stores block automated checks from data centers. Then we check what we can (robots.txt, a firewall test and the live AI test) and mark the report as a partial scan. Our checker identifies itself as ActiniumSEOBot and respects robots.txt.
